1. Visit the Sagrada Familia Basilica

Believe it or not, it is possible to get into one of the most expensive and essential places in Barcelona for free: the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia. One trick to be able to visit it for free is to attend the international mass held every Sunday morning at 9 a.m. We recommend arriving early at the entrance as capacity is limited.

2. Admire the Hospital de la Santa Cruz y San Pablo

The Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau is located very close to the Sagrada Família and has been declared a World Heritage Site. Every first Sunday of the month, from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm, admission is free. You can also admire it from the outside: it is a super interesting piece of architecture!

3. Visit the Born

The Born area is one of the oldest in Barcelona and is characterised by its narrow medieval streets. It is, without a doubt, essential to walk through its streets. You can also visit the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar and the Palau de la Música, but these two sites are not free.

4. Have a picnic in the HortaLabyrinth

Having a picnic is always a good idea, isn't it? It's not a very crowded place, so it's a great way to spend the morning outdoors.

5. Visit the museums

There are many museums that are free on the first Sunday of the month and are worth a visit, such as the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, Museu Picasso, Museu Blau, and Museu de la Música.

6. Book a Free Tour

It's a good option to show you a lot of Barcelona, but it's not really free, because in the end, it's always good to leave a tip.

7. Visit Barcelona Cathedral

This is definitely a must! Depending on the opening hours, a visit to Barcelona Cathedral can be free or paid. At present, the timetable for compulsory donations is from 1 pm to 5.30 pm (Monday to Saturday) and from 2 pm to 5 pm (Sundays). In the morning, before 1 p.m., and in the afternoon, outside the compulsory donation hours, Barcelona Cathedral is free of charge.

8. Stroll along La Rambla

La Rambla is the most famous street in the city and is another of the things to do in Barcelona completely free. If you come to Barcelona, you have to visit this beautiful street.

And if you are walking along La Rambla, you must stop at the Boqueria Market. Here you can spend a pleasant time among colourful stalls selling sweets, fruit and vegetables and much more.

Take the opportunity to swim in the warm waters of the Mediterranean and enjoy the sunrise and sunset on Barcelona's beaches. It is an unmissable experience.

One of the best free things to do in Barcelona is to see the music, water, and light show that takes place at the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc.
