1O THINGS BARCELONA IS FAMOUS FOR

Mix centuries of history, architecture rich in detail, beautiful beaches, and a unique atmosphere of innovation. That is Barcelona. And there is no shortage of things to do in Barcelona. There are attractions and activities for everyone.

Although the capital of Spain is Madrid, it is Barcelona that receives the most tourists throughout the year. It is a city that focuses on trends in the world of fashion, gastronomy, and culture. So, whenever Barcelona is mentioned, there are certain things that immediately come to mind.

Here are 10 of the countless things that Barcelona is known for:

1. GAUDÍ'S ATTRACTIONS

With Antoni Gaudí's architecture being the main tourist attraction of Barcelona - La Sagrada Familia, Casa Batló, Casa Milà or La Pedrera, and Park Güell - these artworks are sprawling throughout the city and are not to be missed.

2. GOTHIC QUARTER

Interestingly, this is a real tourist attraction of the city. It is the oldest part of Barcelona but considered one of the most beautiful. The streets are narrow and medieval, but full of stories to tell.

3. CAMP NOU STADIUM - BARCELONA FOOTBALL CLUB

Once in Barcelona, a visit to one of the most famous stadiums in the world is a must! Camp Nou is considered to be the biggest stadium in Europe and offers tours every day.

4. BARCELONETA BEACH

Apart from its vast culture, Barcelona is also well known for its beaches and the most famous one is, without any doubt, Barceloneta beach.

5. MONTJUÏC AND ITS MAGIC FOUNTAIN

Located in the highest region of Barcelona, it is in Montjuïc that you will get the most beautiful views of the city. And as soon as the sun goes down, it's a must to watch the Montjuïc Magic Fountain Show.

6. EL MERCADO DE LA BOQUERIA

It is the best-known market in all of Barcelona and there you can find a wide variety of local and exotic products.

7. THE CARMEL BUNKERS

Above the city of Barcelona, on top of the hill of Turó de la Rovira, is the Bunkers del Carmel - a number of former underground military bunkers that offer the best views of the city. Built during the Spanish Civil War in 1937, the bunkers were used as part of an anti-office battery to defend against attacks by the fascists and housed a number of weapons.

8. LAS RAMBLAS

This is the most famous and therefore busiest avenue in the city. In addition, it is also where many of Barcelona's tourist attractions are located.

9. TIBIDABO

Tibidabo, at 512 metres, is the highest point of the Collserola mountain range. It is a wonderful place to get some fresh air if you need a break from the busy city. In addition, it offers the best views of Barcelona and plenty of entertainment options for the whole family.

10. ARC DE TRIOMPHE AND CIUTADELLA PARK

Just like in France, Barcelona also has an Arc de Triomphe - but a smaller one. Built in 1888, it marks the entrance to a large public promenade leading to Ciutadella Park - the park of choice for sports and nature lovers.

A city as famous as Barcelona that has so much to visit cannot be missed, right?
