DÍA DE LA HISPANIDAD
The discovery of America by Christopher Columbus in 1942 was of enormous importance because it initiated contact between Europe and America.
For this reason, October 12th has been considered a memorable day ever since and became a national holiday called "Fiesta Nacional Española" o "Día de la Hispanidad".
The celebration of this day is marked by a traditional military parade. This event is attended by the King of Spain, the representatives of the powers of the State and regional leaders.
This year there will be a march that will start at 11.30 am at Passeig de Gràcia and will end in clustering in Plaça Catalunya at 1 pm, where there will be a fair of constitutionalist organizations from 10 am to 2:30 pm.
At the same time, the Somatemps association will conduct a floral offering at the Columbus Monument at 10:30. Along the route of the march, 2,000 dancers from Spanish-American associations will perform traditional dances.
