TIBIDABO

Tibidabo, at 512 metres, is the highest point of the Collserola mountain range. It’s a wonderful place to get some fresh air if you need a break from the busy city. This site offers the best views of Barcelona and many entertainment options for the whole family.

Tibidabo, also known as the Magic Mountain, is considered the lungs of Barcelona. It's a wonderful place to get some fresh air if you need a break from the busy city. It is popular for its cultural and leisure offerings and for its views over the city. As the opening hours are somewhat irregular, we recommend that you check the park's official website before planning your visit to make sure it is open on the day you choose.

WHAT TO SEE IN TIBIDABO

1. Tibidabo Amusement Park

This theme park is the oldest in Spain and one of the first in Europe. It is a unique place that offers a magical experience and contains more than 30 emblematic and modern attractions.

2. Expiatory Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Very close to the park is the Expiatory Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a church designed by the architect Enric Sagnier. The most interesting part of the church is the viewing platform right below the Christ statue at the top. You’ll have to pay to go up (€3.50), but the rest of the church and the crypt is free. There is a lift that takes you to the top of the church, from where you can see the whole of Barcelona. As with many Catholic temples, visitors are required to wear appropriate clothing to enter the church. Shorts and short skirts are not allowed, and hats and other items that cover the head must be removed.

3. Collserola Tower

This is a communications tower built for the 1992 Olympic Games and is the tallest structure in Barcelona. It is 288 metres high and its tenth floor, which is 115 metres above sea level, houses a viewing platform offering panoramic views of the city. On certain days, when the weather is favourable, you can even make out the outline of Mallorca on the horizon.
